Install problem -
I've got a problem installing an app on a Windows 95 workstation.
It was developed on a Windows NT workstation but it has been installed successfully on other Windows 95 workstations and NT is no problem. DCOM is installed first for the Win95 pc and then setup package is launched.
During set up mdac_typ.exe is installed for ADO 2.1 and the ActiveX controls used in the app. The user gets an error message during the setup:
Received Error Message: Error C:\Windows\ST6UNST.6EXE. - Access Violation - Abort or Retry. I selected Retry and continued
Received the following error: C:\Windows\System\MSCOMCTL.OCX Access Violation - Abort or Retry. I selected Retry and the application loaded succesfully.
Mdac installs properly without a problem.
The user launches the app and when it tries to connect to the data source she gets an error message:
RunTime error 3706
ADO could not find the specified provider.
What going wrong? The same install worked fine on a different Windows 95 machine and she didn't have anything else open during install.
