Mini-Search Engine -

I am using ASP to write a Search Form where users can choose among 6 fields to search by. This search might use just one field, or it could be a combination of any of these. I am trying to figure out an efficient way to do this, but all I can come up with is doing several if/then statements, which leads to several more SQL statements. This is getting way out of hand, so does anyone know of a good way to do a search of this kind?

BTW, I'm querying an Access 97 database (I know, yuck). Help, please!
